CI – Knock BC Mixed Fours tournament

To:  All CI Knock Members

Please see the attached email from Charlie which has been sent to Bowling Club secretaries.  This is an exciting new venture for CI Knock.

Regards
Mary

Please find attached notice of the inaugural mixed rinks tournament to be held at CI-Knock from 9th to 13th April 2018. This is an evening event to be played under floodlights and all rinks will have a minimum of 3 games in the round robin with section winners proceeding to the knockout stages.

It is an opportunity for bowlers to experience play on an artificial surface with the incentive of generous prizes. Please circulate this information around your club. Entries will be strictly limited to the first 32 with a maximum of 2 per club.

Best regards and good bowling for 2018.

Friendly match vs Bray BC

To:  All CI Knock Members

Happy New Year to you all.

The friendly match, mentioned by Louis Arneill at our AGM, between Bray Bowling Club and CI Knock is now confirmed and it should be a very enjoyable and sociable day out.  Details as follows:-

Date:  Tuesday 17 April

Venue:  Bray Bowling Club

Transport:  Coach

Cost: £20
Dress code: Club shirt & grey trousers
Final details including timings are still to be finalised, however we envisage that the coach will leave CIYMS at the very latest 9 am could be 8.30 am.  Food will be provided by the Bray Club with lunch before the match and some eats (eg sausage rolls) after it. There will be socialising before we return home – we will be away all day and evening.

There will be a limit to numbers so it is “first come first served”.

Obviously numbers will determine the size and cost of the coach and we have to pay Bray Club for catering for us (all included in the £20) so please only give me your name if you genuinely intend to go.
Please let me know by Saturday 27 January if you wish to join the trip and state whether you would like to play bowls or just spectate.

Many thanks.

Au Revoir dear friend

Roberta Hughes

We said goodbye to Roberta on Wednesday 6th December at a lovely service at Castlereagh Presbyterian Church.

The Thanksgiving service was given by Rev. Burnside.

The service was well attended by her friends from Knock Bowling Club as was befitting a long loyal member of our bowling circle. Roberta will be sadly missed as she contributed a lot to the club in too many ways to mention here.

As you know Roberta was elected to Honorary membership at the recent AGM, a well-deserved honour.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Helen and Tony and the rest of the family circle

Till we meet again dear friend.
