The new CI Knock mixed rinks tournament was held last week at CI Knock.

A good entrance produced a week of fun and some excellent bowling.

After the group stages the quarter-finals were played on the Thursday with the final and 3rd/4th playoffs on the Friday night.

Congratulations to the winners from Pickie BC. The rink of Dean Mills, Leslie Mills, Jamie Watson and Don Mills were rewarded with a cheque for £200 for some excellent bowling all week.

Coaching will take place as usual on Saturday mornings in May and June.

• starts Saturday 5 May at 9.45 am (everyone must be on the green ready to play by 10.00 am)

• this is open to all members, friends and acquaintances – members are asked to actively encourage as many as possible to come and give bowls a try.
• participants must wear flat soled shoes if they do not have bowling shoes

We at CI Knock are very lucky to have a number of very experienced coaches both male and female who very kindly give up their Saturday mornings – so let’s make good use of their expertise!

A reminder to everyone that:-

• Mixed Rinks start on Monday evening 16 April

• Ladies Rinks start on Wednesday afternoon 18 April

• Men’s Rinks start on Tuesday evening 24 April
  (No official Men’s Rinks on 17 April due to the Bray trip that day, though obviously there can be casual play).

To:  All Members

As usual the club is holding a tournament on Easter Monday commencing at 2 pm. There will be the customary nominal cash prizes for the lucky winners.

This will be followed by hot dogs, tea/coffee and shortbread in our pavilion (not the main clubhouse) and therefore the maximum number being catered for is 60.

Tournament charge: £5.00   Food charge: £5.00  to be paid on arrival.

Your Social committee need to know:

• will you be playing in the tournament and staying for food?
• will you be coming for food only?
• will you be playing in the tournament only?

You will not wish to miss out on what is always a very enjoyable event so please let me have your replies ASAP.

Presidents Anne & Denis McCluskey request the pleasure of your company on Thursday 29 March for the Opening Day of our 2018 season.

 

The Opening Ceremony will take place at 2 pm when the Presidents will declare the club open.

 

A tournament for all members will follow.  To round off the first social event of the season, soup, sandwiches, sausage rolls etc, plus tea and coffee will be provided in the Greeves room when the tournament winners will receive their monetary prizes.  The charge for the day is £10 to be paid on arrival.  We obviously hope everyone will take part in both tournament & meal, however if you can take part in only one, the charge for the tournament is £4 and the meal £6.

 

Alberta (Stadium) is doing the catering and you will therefore appreciate that it is essential we know how many will be attending so please email/text/phone me or return the attached proforma –  whichever is easier – by Tuesday 20 March at the latest to give me your decisions.

 

Dress code for Opening Day:  Men – grey trousers & club shirt.  Ladies – white trousers & club shirt.

 

You will receive your subscription invoices in due course & these should be paid promptly to Richard Barnes in CIYMS Office if you wish to be considered for league and cup matches. Cheques should be made payable to CIYMS and if you wish to pay by direct debit forms are available from the Office.

 

Also by Tuesday 10 April, all NIPGL and NIWPGL competition entries along with the appropriate entry fees should be with Seamus and me.
