Club Update

NIWPGL 

 FINALS

If you were at the Club Friday or Saturday last, you will have watched some super bowls produced by all the finalists. We were very fortunate with weather and congratulations are due to Nan McBride and the team for doing the Club proud in hosting the event and overseeing the weekend. Thanks also to all those who chipped in and helped in various ways.

 SENIOR INTER ASSOC. GAMES. 

Proud to report that Karen McNeill was selected for this event and played in all 3 games.

 CUPS

The Senior ladies team will play in the semi final of the Stylux Cup against Falls Club next Monday 12th August at Pickie Bowling Club starting at 6pm.

NI VETERANS BOWLING 

LEAGUES

Congratulations to Vets 2 who have secured Zone B Section 2 league. The team has amassed 90 points with 2 matches to play and are confirmed as league winners. Outstanding achievement.

CUPS

The Club won both semi finals at Shaftesbury last week and will play in the Finals of the Thornton and Stevenson Cups on Friday 23rd August at Belmont Bowling Club..More detail later.

CHAMPIONSHIPS

The semi finals of the various competitions are being staged at Belmont Bowling Club on Friday this week 9th August. 

Jeff Raine will represent the club in the McMurtry Singles starting at 10.30am , and in the afternoon at 1.30pm, Jim McMullen, Ron McBride, and Tony Wilson will feature in the Richardson Triples.

Please try and get along and support all the players in these important matches. The Club has done extremely well to reach these stages of various competitions and with your backing can hopefully go even further.

Thornton and Stevenson Cup Semi-Finals

Semi-Finals Day is upon us.  At 1:30 p.m. Friday 2nd August.

V1 play Donaghadee and V2 play Pickie 3 in the Thornton and Stevenson Cups respectively.

The matches are being played simultaneously at Shaftesbury

 and any support would be welcome.

Visit of IBA President to CI Knock BC

IBA President, Henry McFarland , is currently visiting all member clubs in Ireland and on Saturday was at our own club before our league game with Ballywalter.

We congratulate Henry on his appointment this year and wish him every success for the remainder of the season.

Upcoming events at the club

NIWPGL FINALS

These will take place from Friday next August 2nd over the weekend. The current President of The Women’s Private Greens League is our own Nan McBride and our Club has the privilege of hosting the competitions Final Ties. We are calling on as many members as are available to come along and support Nan, and even offer assistance or just watch some bowls. The matches will begin from 10am on the Friday and refreshments will be available throughout the days in the Stewart Room. 

COFFEE EVENT

The Club is organising a coffee morning on Friday 23rd August . The purpose of this event is to raise funds for our Presidents chosen charity which is the Motor Neuron Disease Association. We are extending an invitation to everyone to come along anytime from 10.30 am to the Greeves Room, where coffee etc will be served. It’s a great opportunity to support Liz Carson and raise funds for this very important Charity so please invite your friends and keep the date free.

 A cover charge per person will be in place of £5 and all proceeds will go to MNDA. Ballot tickets for some excellent prizes will also be available to purchase.

To ensure we are well covered with enough cakes etc, Liz would love to hear from any members who would be willing to provide some extra baking so please get in touch with her if you are able to help.
