To all members, Sadly, we announce the passing of Charlie Costley’s mother, Tillie, peacefully at hospital early this morning. 

Tillie, was a member of the Ladies Section at Knockdene, having joined in 1963.  

She was Lady President in 1983 and was an accomplished bowler, representing the Club in many competitions, winning:

1980 and 1985 NIWPGL Pairs Championship with L. Simpson

1980  Irish National Pairs Championship with L. Simpson

1981  British Isles Pairs Championship with L. Simpson

She delivered the first bowl at the Opening of our present Green in 2016.
 

Those members in the Club who played with Tillie remember her as a quiet, gentle lady who always encouraged new bowlers.

To Charlie, and the entire family circle, we send our deepest sympathy and hope that the happy memories of her long life will sustain them at this sad time. 

For your information: A Service of thanksgiving for the life of Matilda (Tillie) Costley is to be held at

 the Moravian Church, University Rd Belfast BT7 1NA at 12:30 p.m. on Monday 3rd April,

 followed by a private family committal at Roselawn Cemetery.

Congratulations to Colin Campbell on his Lifetime Recognition Award at the North Down Sports Awards Ceremony.

We at CI Knock Bowling Club are very aware of Colin’s contribution, not only to our Bowling Club but also to Bowls, both indoor and outdoor, in Ireland.

Those of  you who have been  members at Knockdene will remember Jean Diamond. Sadly, Jean passed away peacefully last evening.

 She played in both Ladies teams and  was Lady President in 2007. Jean resigned from the Club in 2016.

 Jean was a delightful lady and will be sadly missed by her friends in the Club.

Our deepest sympathy to her husband, Harry, son Ian and the family circle.

The very successful Ten Pin Bowling Night held before Covid is being reinstated.

Bowling lanes have been booked. After the bowls we will retire to Knock Golf Club for a light supper.

           Followed by a light buffet supper at Knock Golf Club
